Messengers

If you stop, and quiet your inner chatter, the Messenger will whisper the Truth. You must be present to hear...

The Messenger symbolizes our own inner Truth; our intuition, if you will. That voice that never fails to guide us when we become overwhelmed by the noise and confusion of life. That voice that is often overlooked when we need answers and guidance. The Messenger is meant to be a small reminder to stop, if only for a moment, and go within ourselves to a place that is quiet and still; and listen. The small stone cairns are reminders that the Messenger will place signs in your life that will guide you along the right path. When working with clay, I don't know what the face will ultimately look like. I'm often frustrated when I try to force the end result. I'm most successful when I listen to my inner voice and allow the Messenger to quietly emerge. When wandering through the Bosque, searching for sticks or pebbles or anything else that catches my eye, I indulge in the luxury of silence, and the right object always appears. I confess to not being a trained artist. I just love the feel of different textures - the warmth and pliability of clay, the roughness of wood, the smoothness of a stone and the soft weightlessness of a feather. I make Messengers with the hope that every time you see one on your wall, it will remind you to stop and listen.
